About Us
Namaste. We are Kal Bahadur Tamang ( Kalu) and Dorje Tamang, the founders of Nepal Azimuth Treks. We have been organizing custom treks and tours for groups from 1 to 20 for the past 10 years. We have hosted visitors from all over the world and are fluent in English, French, German and Dutch.
Kal B.Tamang (Kalu)
I am Kalu, one of the two co-founders of Nepal Azimuth Treks and primary guide. I followed my father’s foot steps, who was a Kathmandu guide for 30 years. I started my career as a porter. On one of my Langtang treks I met a great Dutch couple who invited me to live in the Netherlands for a year. Upon returning to Nepal I lead a development project funded by a Dutch Friends through theirs Association.Installation of toilets for every house in our home village and the installation of a water supply system for other neighboring villages.
Dorje Tamang
Dorje Tamang co-founder Nepal Azimuth Treks with me. Dorje was able to attend school until age 17 , through great sacrifices made by his mother alone to raise a family of 4 children. As soon as he could, he went to work as a porter to help financially support his mother and family. He endured very tough conditions: walking with bad shoes, suffering the cold because of inadequate clothing, carrying heavy loads, (the limit of his strength – 40kg), hunger and abusive guides. Fortunately, he loves talking to people, laugh and have fun which helped him advance. In addition he speaks a little English and after 5 years received his Guide diploma.
Dorje’s experiences working with the larger guide companies instilled a passion to work in another way: treat all staff, from guides to porters decently and paid fair wages. As a co-founder, he always keeps in mind his huge responsibilities towards his employees and customers. Dorje recently married and is now living in France, managing our European office.
GB Lama
My cousin GB Lama worked 16 years as a trekking guide in the Himalaya in Nepal. He was responsible for groups up to 20 people and he guided them also to the highest mountains of the world. For this task he had to be very strong and he had to inspiring confidence towards his clients. Because of his open minded and friendly character he made contact with people from all around the world and he loved to show and explain them about nepalese culture, life and landscape.
Since 2013 he lives with his family in Germany and organizes for individual trekkers and groups an unforgettable journey in Nepal.

Our business is putting together custom tours so please contact us with your specific requirements and we will work with you to plan your ideal adventure vacation.
Beyond the typical Annapurna, Everest, Langtang and Mustang treks we also specialize in Home Stay treks, through small villages of Nepal where tourists normally do not go. With these tours you will experience a completely different Nepal, living amongst local Nepalese in village way off the beaten path.
As we grew up in one of these very small remote villages it is very important to us to help improve the living standards and environmental sustainability of the locations we visit. Nepal Azimuth Treks contributes a percentage of our trekking income to support various projects. We also have worked with some of our past trekking guests who have wanted to help further. Examples include the donation of a science lab for the school in Thulo Parsel and have provided 89 toilets with full furniture for the villagers. Please contact us further information.
