About Everest Region
Everest, it's a word that makes you dream ... As a National Park, which offers qualities treks and cultural sites in a protected environment. The first of the attractions of course, the mountain valleys of altitude long but open desert scenery of peaks, domes, snow-capped peaks, lakes set in glacial cirques ... are offered to our eyes Everest (8848m), Lhotse (8511m), Makalu (8475m), Cho Oyu (8173m). These names bring to the trekkers mind those who have conquered these summits: Tenging Sherpa and Hillary of course, but also Terray, Lachenal and all those who made ??the history of mountaineering.
The other attraction of this area is without doubt the people and their lifestyles. The valleys are populated by Sherpas living in a poor agriculture (potatoes, cereals). The villages far removed from any center must obtain the required through-porters and yaks. You can meet them along all the trails of the region carrying their gigantic loads up to 10 days. As a consequence of the evolution of times and development of tourism, porterage – a basic trading got organized around where goods arrive and are distributed.
Finally, each village displays its own monastery offering the passer by a preview of art and Buddhist thought, thanks to the ornaments accessible to all.
