{"id":229,"date":"2011-12-15T08:17:32","date_gmt":"2011-12-15T08:17:32","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/nepalazimuthtreks.com\/en\/?page_id=229"},"modified":"2013-02-10T10:52:28","modified_gmt":"2013-02-10T10:52:28","slug":"generals-information","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"http:\/\/nepalazimuthtreks.com\/en\/generals-information\/","title":{"rendered":"General Info"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong style=\"font-size: 13px;\">PASSPORT AND VISA<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>A passport is required and must be valid for 6 months after the end of your stay in Nepal.<\/p>\n<p>The tourist visa is obtained in two ways:<\/p>\n<p><strong>IN <\/strong><strong>NEPAL<\/strong><strong>:<\/strong><strong>\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><\/strong><span>On your arrival at Kathmandu airport you will require a complete printed (and request landing visa application) and take the file &#8220;ABROAD WITHOUT VISA&#8221; with identity photo and dollars or euros in cash (25 $ for 15 days, $ 40 for 30 days and $ 100 for 90 days). NB: During the high season you may have to wait a long time.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong>IN YOUR OWN COUNTRY:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><\/strong>Before leaving, you can get it at the local Nepal Embassy<\/p>\n<p><strong><em> <\/em><\/strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><strong>INSURANCE: \u00a0<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong><em><\/em><\/strong>Travel insurance is mandatory and is your\u00a0responsibility. It must cover cancellation, accidents, rescue by helicopter, repatriation to Kathmandu (this clause must be written fully\u00a0spelled\u00a0out), health insurance, theft and damage to baggage losses.<\/p>\n<p>Make sure that the coverage amounts are sufficient to cover the costs of the risks mentioned. Inform your insurance agency of dates, place and content of your trek.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><strong>NB:\u00a0<\/strong><\/span><span style=\"font-weight: normal;\">if the trek cannot be completed in its entirety for reasons independent of the organizer, no refund is available<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: normal;\">.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong><\/strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><strong>CURRENCY:\u00a0<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong><em><\/em><\/strong>ATM&#8217;s in Kathmandu are plentiful. \u00a0VISA \u00a0or MASTER CARD cash advances are easily obtained.<\/p>\n<p><strong><\/strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><strong>BAGGAGE: <\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p>Baggage not required on the actual \u00a0trek can be stored at the hotel in a\u00a0 locked locker.<\/p>\n<p><strong><em><\/em><\/strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><strong>TYPICAL TREKKING \u00a0STAFF: \u00a0<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p>A qualified trekking guide<br \/>\nTypically one porter for each two clients. We limit the porters carrying weight to \u00a020 kilos max<br \/>\nCooks and additional porters for a tent trek.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #339966;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><strong>Note: <\/strong><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #339966;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><strong><\/strong>The guide adapts the details of the trek depending on weather and customer<\/span>.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong><em> <\/em><\/strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><strong>ACCOMMODATION: \u00a0<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p>Regardless of the type of trek &#8211; a lodge or tent- a sleeping bag is necessary.\u00a0In the lodge, you will have a room with two beds or a dormitory (without heating) dependent on the number of visitors. Bathrooms are shared with individual showers and hot water covered up to 4000m altitude (possibility of buying a bucket of hot water when no shower is available)<\/p>\n<p><strong> <\/strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><strong>TENT:\u00a0<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p>They are installed near the villages and allow an easy access to lodge\u00a0toilets and showers at an extra charge. They can also be installed in a\u00a0camp-site\u00a0with toilets.<\/p>\n<p><strong><\/strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><strong>FOOD:<\/strong><\/span><strong>\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><\/strong>Lodge meals are cooked by the owners and are of good quality. Likewise if you are camping (treks with tent), the trek cook (with his own equipment) \u00a0provides good\u00a0quality too.<\/p>\n<p><strong><\/strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><strong>WATER:\u00a0<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p>Bottle mineral water is\u00a0available\u00a0for purchase at all lodges and guest houses on trek. However, we recommend the use of water purification tablets if possible. \u00a0Bottle water is expensive as it has to be carried up the trails to the lodges by porters. \u00a0It is also not the most environmentally friendly way to stay hydrated.<\/p>\n<p><strong><\/strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><strong>VACCINES. HEALTH. EMERGENCY:<\/strong><\/span><em><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><strong>\u00a0<\/strong><\/span><\/em><\/p>\n<p><em><\/em>No vaccinations are required but are advised to bring anti-malarial drugs to south of Nepal. As well you should\u00a0have \u00a0your medications such as disinfectants, painkillers, betadine, anti-diarrhoeal drugs &#8230;\u00a0In almost every village there will be a telephone..<\/p>\n<p><strong><em><\/em><\/strong><span><strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">TRE<\/span><\/strong><\/span><strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">EKKING\u00a0SEASONS<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The must popular\u00a0period is from <strong>September to late November<\/strong> because the sky is clear,the air is dry, and the\u00a0temperatures not too hot in the south and not too cold in the mountains. <strong>March and April<\/strong> are also good months for trekking..
